We
believe growing in Christ involves finding your
place in the grand adventure of seeing the gospel
planted, taking root and growing in every people
group God created. Taking this gospel across social,
ethnic, religious, linguistic and sometimes even
geographic barriers is the task Christ gave his
first disciples. Since the task is not completed, we
seek to do our part in our time.
Revelation 7:9-10
gives us a glimpse of what it will be like when the
job is done!
After this I looked, and there was a great multitude
that no one could count, from every nation, from all
tribes and peoples and languages, standing before
the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with
palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a
loud voice saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who
is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
Until that great day, followers of Christ have a
collective job to do and it will mean that each of
us needs to be seeking to do our part. Your part
might be to go, it might be to give, it might to be
pray, to help send or to welcome. It might be some
combination of all of these throughout your life in
Christ.
Through our church mission budget we support a
number of people and a few organizations whose part
is to GO. We call them Mission Partners. Some
partners are crossing those barriers right here in
Fresno. Some mission partners work in difficult
region we call the 10/40 Window. Still others are
scattered about and we call them Global Mission
Partners.
A great way to grow in mission is to get involved in
some activity that crosses one of those social,
ethnic, linguistic or geographical barriers. Check
out our
local opportunities. You’ll find some one-time
projects, some monthly opportunities and even some
weekly opportunities. We also send teams out for
short term mission experiences from time to time.

Another way to grow in mission is to pray regularly
for any of our mission partners. Pick up a prayer
update any Sunday at church or
download a copy now. You might
want to pray for a certain part of the world or
group of people. Remember...prayer changes things!
